Job Summary

The Custodial Support Staff will be responsible for maintaining a safe, attractive, and clean environment for students and staff at the Union R-XI School District.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all buildings and premises are kept neat and clean at all times.
  • Shovel and/or plow sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as necessary.
  • Check daily to ensure all exit doors are locked and panic bolts are working properly during building occupancy.
  • Sweep classrooms and dust furniture daily.
  • Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when necessary.
  • Scrub and disinfect toilets, floors, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
  • Wash all windows on both the inside and outside.
  • Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
  • Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
  • Clean all whiteboards/chalkboards daily.
  • Secure all windows and doors within areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all school-related matters.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic cleaning supplies directions and/or instructions.
  • Ability to lift at least 80 pounds.
  • Ability to use an eight-foot ladder to perform light custodial tasks.
