Job Title: Loader Operator

At Foss Maritime Company, we are seeking a skilled Loader Operator to join our team. As a Loader Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, such as Caterpillar front-end loaders, to discharge cargo from lighterage barges. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the equipment, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as Caterpillar front-end loaders, to discharge cargo from lighterage barges.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the equipment, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the loader and surrounding areas.
  • Participate in maintenance and repair activities as assigned, including refueling and checking fluid levels.
  • Communicate effectively with the Barge Supervisor and other team members via VHF radio.
  • Participate in the Lead Compliance Program, including monthly blood testing and proper utilization of respiratory protection.
Requirements:
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid TWIC card.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, gloves, boots, and respirators.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders and over bulwarks.
  • Ability to fly in a fixed-wing aircraft.
Working Conditions:

Subject to weather conditions, including exposure to high noise levels and extreme temperatures. Work is performed in the field, requiring regular and predictable attendance.

Physical and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to move between buildings, ascend/descend stairs, and go outdoors in all kinds of weather.
