Certified Clinical Assistant | MSK Westchester
Exciting Opportunity at MSK:
As a Clinical Assistant, you will be an integral part of the patient care team in an outpatient oncology environment, collaborating closely with healthcare providers, nursing staff, and administrative personnel to ensure an outstanding patient experience.
Role Summary:
Your contributions will be vital in delivering superior patient care and facilitating the efficient operation of our clinical practice.
This role encompasses a dynamic mix of clinical and administrative tasks, including patient assistance, vital sign monitoring, preparation for and support during medical procedures, and management of patient flow.
Essential Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and relevant specialized certifications.
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or registration with a recognized credentialing body, or eligibility for certification within six months of employment.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.Proven strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Basic proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and email platforms.
Prior experience in a medical assistant capacity within an outpatient environment is preferred.
Familiarity with OSHA standards and multi-specialty experience in a high-volume setting is advantageous.
Core Competencies:
Clinical Expertise:
Skilled in taking vital signs, performing electrocardiograms (EKGs), assisting with physical examinations and procedures, and managing patient specimens. Ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies and conduct point-of-care tests according to established protocols.
Patient Engagement:
Capable of preparing and assisting patients for appointments and procedures, managing patient flow, and maintaining clear communication with patients and healthcare providers.
Administrative Proficiency:
Adept at tracking patient flow, documenting patient interactions, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational policies.
Safety and Infection Control:
Comply with infection control and safety protocols, maintain cleanliness in patient care areas, and effectively manage personal protective equipment and hygiene supplies.
Technical Skills:
Basic computer skills, including proficiency with EMR systems (Epic preferred), and the ability to navigate electronic documentation and communication tools.
