POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Class A Truck Operator will operate tandem trucks or combination vehicles with a Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) of 26,000 pounds, and the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the towed vehicle exceeding 10,000 pounds, to transport materials to and from designated locations while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met according to project specifications each day.
- Assist crew members in loading and unloading stone and materials onto and off of the truck using a forklift or donkey.
- Drive truck to/from yards and/or from suppliers to job sites.
- Required to undertake at least one overnight trip during the week.
- Secure cargo during transit by positioning blocks and straps around items.
- Collect payments for delivered goods and delivery charges.
- Maintain truck logs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Keep in contact with the supervisor via telephone or radio to receive delivery instructions.
- Inspect trucks, equipment, and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, and fuel to ensure safe operation.
- Perform emergency roadside repairs, including changing tires, replacing light bulbs, and managing tire chains and spark plugs.
- Participate in daily meetings and prioritize safety while working in the shop and at job sites.
- Exemplify The Gallegos Corporation mission and values consistently.
- This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of experience as a truck driver.
- Valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License, Class A
- Knowledge of general truck maintenance and mechanics.
- Successful completion of a DOT physical.
Certifications:
- Colorado Commercial Driver's License, Class A
Computer Skills:
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and internet usage.
