Job Summary

As a Fire Sprinkler Fitter at Summit Fire & Security, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining fire sprinkler systems in newly constructed structures and renovations to existing structures. This role requires minimal supervision and involves working with a variety of materials, including steel and CPVC pipe, sprinkler heads, and valves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cut, fabricate, and install steel and CPVC pipe as designed for fire sprinkler systems.
  • Install and hang a variety of pipe, sprinkler heads, fittings, valves, hangers, and other fire protection components in accordance with blueprints and construction documents.
  • Install and trim valves for wet, dry, and pre-action fire protection systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to ensure sprinkler systems are constructed as designed.
  • Ensure all work areas remain clean, safe, and orderly while working and at the end of the workday.
  • Clean, inspect, and service required tools in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and supplies are secured and accounted for while on the job site and prior to the end of the workday.
  • Report to field foremen on progress and/or job-related problems on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the training of sprinkler apprentices.
  • Understand and follow FLSA's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in weekly Toolbox talks.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • 3-5 years' experience installing pipe systems and valves, required.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Construction experience, preferred.
  • Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, customer service skills, decision-making skills, ability to multitask, ability to meet project schedules, ability to plan and organize, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to train others, required.
  • Ability to read electronic blueprints, strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, required.
  • Must be able to comply with SFS's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.
Work Environment

Frequent local travel and occasional regional and non-regional travel is required. Employees will frequently be required to work inside and outside in hot/cold temperatures and be exposed to loud noises, cramped quarters, dust, fumes, and odors, standing on hard surfaces, and electrical hazards frequently. Employees will occasionally be exposed to chemicals, moving machinery, uneven and slippery surfaces. Employee must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies.
