Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NM Tech) plays a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by performing nuclear medicine procedures, PET, and theranostic procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance: Perform high-quality nuclear medicine, PET, and theranostic procedures according to exam protocol, in a timely manner. Systematically evaluate the quality of imaging procedures and follow established standards and procedures.
  • Caring Practices: Communicate with patients to identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed, and establish rapport with patients and others. Instruct and communicate with patients and their family, in accordance with HIPAA, regarding the test to be performed and assess patient's ability to tolerate exam.
  • Patient Safety: Safeguard patients, team members, and themselves by adhering to all radiation safety requirements, policies, protocols, and techniques. Verify that correct radioactive drug has been selected for the exam or treatment. Screen patients appropriately for pregnancy status prior to the start of the exam or treatment.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, nursing partners, medical staff, and Radiologists to ensure accurate transfer of patient images to the BSWH picture archiving and communication system (PACS) for clinical review and dictation by our physician partners.
Requirements
  • ARRT-N Nuclear Medicine Tech (ARRT-N), Cert Nuclear Med Tech (CNMT): Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine - ARRT (N), or by the NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT).
