Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Highway Maintenance Laborer to join our team at the State of Indiana. As a key member of our public works team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our state's transportation infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance tasks on highways and interstates, including picking up trash and debris, filling potholes, and maintaining drainage systems.
  • Assist with traffic control, especially during emergency road closures.
  • Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment.
  • Perform winter operations duties, including snow and ice removal.
  • Perform regular inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
Requirements
  • A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
  • Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
  • Ability to operate specialty traffic equipment.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
