Job Description:

CareMed Health Solutions is seeking a skilled Advanced Wound Care Specialist to provide wound services to patients in long-term care facilities. As a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner with expertise in wound management, you will have the opportunity to impact the lives of elderly individuals.

The successful candidate will have board certification and be licensed to practice as a nurse practitioner in Kentucky. A background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties, along with experience in wound care, including chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds, is essential. The ideal candidate will be comfortable diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy Ulcers, and be familiar with wound care best practices and advanced wound care products.

The salary for this role is approximately $120,000 per year, based on industry standards and location. Malpractice insurance coverage is provided. This is a part-time or full-time position.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing wound care services for long-term care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities.
  • Prescribing appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with KY Law.
  • Ordering, reviewing, and/or following up with treatments and diagnostic testing.
  • Communicating with the nursing home staff on a regular and as needed basis to discuss changes in condition and/or the care plan.
  • Collaborating with the primary care physician.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A current, unrestricted NP license in the state of Kentucky.
  • Board Certification.
  • DEA licensure (Optional).
  • Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
  • Clinical background of wound care; including but not limited to chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds.
  • Must be comfortable with diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy Ulcers.
  • Must be familiar with wound care best practice and advanced wound care products; collagens, alginates, foams, silvers, etc.
  • Must have experience with wound vacs and other DME, such as pressure relieving/reducing devices.
  • Strong preference to having wound certification or be open to getting certified.
  • Experience working in a long-term care setting.
  • Ability to work with an EMR.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care.
