Job Title: Porter

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Porter to join our team at Asian Americans for Equality. As a Porter, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of our mixed-use residential and commercial building in Flushing, Queens.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents and staff by sweeping, mopping, and cleaning common areas.
  • Remove debris, trash, and recyclables from the building and ensure proper disposal.
  • Restock bathroom supplies and maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Respond to cleaning emergencies and perform tasks as needed.
  • Keep the basement clean and free of clutter and debris.
  • Supervise outside contractors and utility companies.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards residents and staff.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Porter, Janitor, or Custodian is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus, particularly in English/Spanish, English/Chinese, or English/Korean.
  • Positive attitude, good communication skills, and flexibility to work in shifts and with flexible schedules.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk from floor to floor and move furniture.
  • Ability to regularly sit or stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
