Job Title: Graduate Electrical Engineer

Dashiell is a leading provider of technical services to the electric utility, power generation, industrial, renewable, and energy industries.

Job Summary:

The Graduate Electrical Engineer will perform engineering and design duties, applying engineering principles to create design documents and drawings for projects.

Assignments are closely supervised and designed to further develop the employee's job knowledge and abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with project teams to perform specific tasks, including creating wiring diagrams from schematics, generating bills of materials, and applying field mark-ups of project as-built drawings.
  • Perform engineering support tasks such as relay burden, lighting, simplified load flow, and short circuit calculations.
  • Learn and apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow and short circuit studies.
  • Complete tasks as assigned to meet engineering and design effort project schedule requirements.
  • Learn and apply engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
  • Learn and properly use the document management system.
  • Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices.
  • Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge and additional training in substation construction and design.
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of their work.
  • Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
  • Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required, with a power focus preferred.

Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain EIT certificate within one year of date of hire is required.

Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field is preferred.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals.
  • Basic knowledge of three-phase power systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software.
Physical Requirements:

This position requires minimal physical effort.

Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year-around weather conditions and noise.

Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%).

Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.

May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
