We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Seasonal Maintenance Assistant to join our team at the City of Coronado, CA. As a Seasonal Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for providing general maintenance and repair support for various City facilities, including parks, beaches, golf courses, sewers, and storm drains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general manual labor and maintenance duties, including cleaning, repairing, and maintaining City facilities and equipment.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and tools, including tractors, mowers, weed eaters, chemical sprayers, dump trucks, backhoes, and power blowers.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems, including repairing sprinkler heads and lines, and locating and repairing water breaks.
  • Provide assistance in vehicle maintenance and repair, including making routine repairs, checking fluid levels, tires, and brakes.
  • Assist in patching City streets and sidewalks, replacing street signs, and painting sidewalk curbs.
  • Operate a pressure washer to clean sidewalks and remove graffiti.
  • Provide general assistance and support within assigned operations.
Requirements:
  • No experience is required for the Seasonal Maintenance Assistant I position.
  • At least two years of general maintenance and repair experience is required for the Seasonal Maintenance Assistant II position.
  • Valid Class C California Driver's License with a safe driving record is required.
  • Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Working Conditions:

Incumbents must be able to work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction. They must also be able to participate in assigned recreational activities or perform heavy manual labor, which may include standing, walking, running, heavy, moderate, or light lifting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

This is a non-benefited position. Part-time, Temporary, and Seasonal (PTS) Employees who work for 30 or more days within a year will accrue paid sick leave in compliance with the Healthy Workplace, Healthy Families Act of 2014.
