Child & Family creates a secure and nurturing atmosphere for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, fostering positive self-esteem through interactive learning.



Your Responsibilities
You will be accountable for the overall growth and welfare of children through family-oriented childcare.

This encompasses the design and execution of age-appropriate curricula that prioritize learning through play, in alignment with the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), BrightStars Quality Rating and Improvement System, and the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards.


Your Key Responsibilities
While additional tasks may arise, your primary duties will include:

  • Creating an inviting, engaging, and developmentally suitable environment for children.
  • Providing adequate supervision and care within the classroom.
  • Managing Teacher Assistants, Substitutes, Interns, and Volunteers in the classroom.
  • Supporting fellow educators in attending to children's physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.
  • Collaborating with the Education Coordinator to formulate a monthly curriculum - lesson plans, specific standards, and outlining particular activities to cater to the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of the children.
  • Planning and engaging in scheduled parent meetings.
  • Timely submission of documentation - daily notes, attendance records, meal sheets, newsletters, developmental profiles, and family goal sheets.
  • Building positive relationships with parents and families, offering support and resources, and communicating concerns to the Program Director and Clinical Supervisor.
  • Ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with health and safety protocols, addressing and reporting any potential hazards to guarantee the safety of children, and being responsive to children's physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.

Who You Are

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies:

  • Associate degree in early childhood education or a related field; a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred; or Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification along with experience deemed equivalent by the agency.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a classroom environment is required; familiarity with Early Childhood development and/or experience in a childcare setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required; knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 is necessary.
  • Ability to communicate and effectively engage with a diverse population.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • The ideal candidate must meet all background checks and medical clearances necessary for the position.

Physical Requirements
Direct Service Staff (No travel as part of position):
This role necessitates time spent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, and lifting up to 25lbs. It also involves operating desktop, laptop, and/or cell phone, and communicating with colleagues.
