About the Role:
Lakewood Health System is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Oncology & Infusion team. As an Infusion RN, you will provide top-notch care to patients undergoing infusion therapy, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the treatment process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients before, during, and after infusion therapy, including vital signs, medical history, and potential adverse reactions.
- Insert, maintain, and monitor intravenous (IV) lines for patients receiving infusion therapy, ensuring proper infusion rates and managing IV access devices.
- Administer chemotherapy medications and other infusion therapies according to physician orders and established protocols, including preparation, dosage calculation, and proper administration techniques.
- Provide comprehensive education to patients and their families about their infusion therapy, including potential side effects, self-care measures, and medication management techniques.
- Assess and manage symptoms and side effects experienced by patients undergoing infusion therapy, collaborating with other healthcare team members to address patient needs.
- Collaborate with oncologists, physicians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
Requirements:
- Current Minnesota RN license
- At least 2 years of oncology experience
- Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification
- At least 1 year of chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration experience
