Job Summary:

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Christus Health, you will play a vital role in the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. Under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision, you will perform patient assessments and institute respiratory care plans. Your technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy skills will be utilized in all areas of the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Participate in emergency response, including Code Blue and White situations.
• Perform airway management, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning, and deliver aerosolized drugs.
• Manage ventilators, including setup and operation, and perform oral hygiene and airway retaining device placement and maintenance.
• Utilize oxygen delivery devices and therapeutic monitoring, and analyze chest films, blood gases, and EKGs.
• Accurately and completely document patient care, and clean and stock equipment and supplies as necessary.

Advanced Practice Skills:

• Develop therapeutic gas management and monitoring skills, including INO and HeO2.
• Perform pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assist, and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Analyze waveforms and conduct nocturnal SpO2 evaluation and polysomnography.
• Participate in transport duties and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

• RT or RCP License in the state of employment required.
• BLS required.
• RRT through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• 3 years of experience preferred.
