Position SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our Gastroenterology division. This role primarily involves outpatient responsibilities, with occasional inpatient duties.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- No evening, weekend, or holiday shifts
- Potential call coverage during colleagues' time off
- Deliver comprehensive patient care that showcases clinical proficiency and advanced knowledge.
- Assess and manage both acute and chronic health conditions within your specialty.
- Engage in collaboration with physicians and healthcare professionals in your area of expertise.
- Design educational programs and strategies for patients, families, and staff regarding relevant health topics.
- Mentor graduate nursing students in advanced practice principles.
- Participate in and/or lead research initiatives pertinent to your specialty.
- Clinical:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patient health by gathering medical histories and performing advanced physical examinations.
- Provide direct clinical care as required.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests to formulate diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and therapies according to established clinical privileges.
- Document all patient care and procedures accurately in medical records.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create individualized treatment plans.
- Coordinate discharge planning with patients and families.
- Consult with other specialties as necessary to address patient needs.
- Leadership:
- Engage in departmental committees and professional organizations.
- Advocate for patients and nursing staff within the healthcare community.
- Assist in developing clinical policies and procedures to establish practice standards.
- Work with leadership to identify and resolve clinical system issues.
- Collaborate on strategic plans for quality improvement initiatives.
- Partner with physicians to drive changes in clinical practices.
- Education:
- Educate patients and families on preventive care and treatment plans.
- Develop and implement educational programs for clinical staff.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for nursing students.
- Provide educational sessions for healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with academic institutions to enhance clinical learning opportunities.
- Research and Quality Improvement:
- Identify areas for clinical research and assist in protocol development.
- Review and apply evidence-based research to clinical practice.
- Collaborate with teams on research projects and clinical trials.
- Participate in quality initiatives and outcome measurement development.
Required:
- Master's degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Acute care certification for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.
- Registered Professional Nurse license.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license.
- Certification from a national body approved by the state.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification as required.
- Controlled substance license and DEA registration as needed.
Preferred:
- At least one year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
