Position Overview
As a Neurodiagnostic Technician, you will conduct both standard and advanced electroencephalographic recordings as instructed. Your role is crucial in ensuring seamless patient care by collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, child life specialists, and departmental personnel. You will play a key part in delivering high-quality diagnostic recordings and reporting to both physicians and patient medical records.Key Responsibilities
- Gather pertinent information and proficiently execute daily standard and complex EEG recordings as prescribed by the physician. Choose from established electrode configurations as well as specialized combinations tailored to the specific case. Provide assistance to medical personnel during specialized procedures as required.
- Prepare necessary documentation in accordance with professional and departmental standards, including evaluation results, personalized treatment plans, progress reports, and monthly summaries. Ensure timely communication of reports to the referring physicians.
- Manage appointment scheduling and confirmations. Prepare patients for procedures, clearly explain the process, and ensure their cooperation throughout the examination.
- Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance protocols, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Calibrate and adjust EEG equipment following standard operating procedures and computerized EEG protocols.
- Engage in the assessment of new procedures by collecting and analyzing relevant data.
- Enhance professional development through participation in educational programs, in-service training, workshops, and reviewing current literature.
- Attend mandatory meetings as required.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not involve management responsibilities and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's Degree: completion of an accredited EEG program.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an EEG/evoked potential technician, particularly with pediatric patients.
Required Certifications
- Registered in at least one modality within the Neurodiagnostic field through ABRET.
- Current CPR certification.
Alternative Qualifications
Post-secondary education for 1 to 18 months in medical terminology, anatomy, and electroneurodiagnostic studies, along with three years of experience performing EEGs and other Neurodiagnostic assessments.
Team members in this role prior to a specified date are grandfathered under previous educational and experience criteria. Additionally, team members must be eligible for certification and will have one year to obtain the necessary certification.
