Emergency Room Registered Nurse

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering safe and effective patient care by utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is responsible for:
- Providing direct patient care within the defined scope of practice.
- Guiding and directing patient and family education, as well as overseeing the activities of other nursing staff.
- Maintaining high standards of professional nursing care in the Emergency Department.
- Communicating effectively with physicians regarding changes in patient conditions, including diagnostic results and symptomatology.
- Responding promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses.
- Ensuring compliance with EMTALA regulations and reporting any suspected child or adult abuse to the appropriate authorities.
- Safeguarding patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:
- Possession of a current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS certification upon hire and maintenance of certification.
- ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.
- PALS certification and/or ENPC required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation training to be completed within 30 days of hire.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting, with a preference for experience in the Emergency Room.
- Certification as an Emergency Nurse (CEN) is preferred.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Facility-Specific Requirements:
For positions in Paramedic Base Station ED, MICN certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire and maintained. For EDAP certified facilities, completion of emergency pediatric courses 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire, and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire is required.
