Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Specialist to join our team at Ascension. As a key member of our sterile processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality and safety in the processing and sterilization of medical instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and assemble surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization and completeness.
  • Perform decontamination and sterilization of instruments, equipment, and containers according to established protocols.
  • Inspect instruments and equipment to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Correct instrument sets according to current standards and established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
  • Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
  • Assist with staff training on sterile principles and decontamination processes.
Requirements
  • One or more of the following certifications: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
  • High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
