Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing ultrasound exams for interpretation to aid in patient diagnosis, utilizing independent judgment in the application of non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves for diagnosis of disease.

Responsibilities:

* Prepares patients for ultrasound exams, positioning them on examination tables according to departmental standard operating procedures, and explaining procedures in layman's terms to relieve patient anxiety.
* Obtains pertinent imaging and diagnostic reports required for correlation with ultrasound exams.
* Consults with referring physicians regarding patient history and determines appropriate ultrasound exams required.
* Sets up equipment to administer particular exams in a timely fashion, using settings on machines to assure accurate results, and utilizing technical judgment.
* Performs ultrasound procedures, recognizing significance of structures visualized in the oscilloscope, and differentiating artifacts from normal or pathologic processes.
* Determines need for more extensive evaluations beyond preliminary instructions.
* Observes patients during entire examinations.

Recognizes and reports any changes in patient's condition and/or motor abnormality complaints by patients, including fainting, discoloration, etc., in accordance with procedures.

* Documents image details and labels studies, maintaining records and logs exams performed.
* Performs frequent calibration checks/adjustments on ultrasound equipment and troubleshoots mechanical problems, as necessary.
* Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:

* Vocational or Technical school Diploma required.
* One (1) of the following credentials required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS).
* 1-3 years of technical experience required.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $64.18-$64.18/hour.
