We are seeking a qualified individual for the role of Chairperson of the Department of Medicine in Connecticut. This position is situated conveniently close to major urban centers, providing an excellent opportunity for both professional and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Duties: (40%)
The Chairperson will collaborate closely with the Chief Medical Officer to oversee and manage all clinical operations, ensuring the integration of various clinical programs and specialty services within the department. - Clinical Duties: (60%)
The role includes providing direct clinical care in the physician's area of expertise while maintaining a leadership presence within the department.
Leadership Expectations:
The Chairperson is expected to exemplify institutional citizenship by engaging in governance and committee activities at both the departmental and hospital levels. Visionary leadership is essential, as the Chairperson will guide the strategic planning efforts aimed at enhancing the quality of clinical, educational, and research initiatives in alignment with the hospital's overarching vision.
Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. degree is required.
- An active and unrestricted Connecticut medical license or the ability to obtain one promptly.
- Current DEA registration and Connecticut Controlled Substance registration.
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine is mandatory.
- Preferred: Current Specialty Board Certification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing physician.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience demonstrating leadership within a healthcare organization.
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
- Familiarity with peer review processes, utilization management, and quality assurance in medical practice.
