Job Description

Position: Senior Process Technician

Essential Skills Required:

Our client is a facility specializing in plastic injection molding, producing precision components for the automotive industry.

Compensation: $33-35/hr

Schedule: 3rd shift, 11pm to 7am, with potential light overtime based on production demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of 2 Process Technicians and 5 Press Operators.
  • Oversee the operation of plastic injection molding machines, including cycle times, pressure, and temperature adjustments.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and adjustments on machines, including Chillers and Thermolators.
  • Perform start-ups and material setups as necessary.
  • Report any concerns to the Manufacturing Engineer and follow up as required.
  • Conduct inspections and Statistical Process Control (SPC) during mold start-ups and material changes.
  • Audit mold setups for any variations and ensure compliance with process sheets.
  • Manage containment actions for nonconforming products and coordinate sorting efforts.
  • Participate in real-time root cause analysis with team members.
  • Authorized to halt press operations until root causes and corrective actions are identified.
  • Initiate tool work orders and verify samples post-analysis.
  • Review completed tool repairs for product integrity and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Ensure accuracy of all startup paperwork.
  • Communicate material issues, such as low inventory or contamination, to relevant departments.
  • Maintain cleanliness of hoppers and dryers on molding machines.
  • Responsible for material setup at designated presses.
  • Remove all previously run parts and materials from the press, ensuring thorough cleaning.
  • Conduct visual inspections per Work Instruction criteria and report any defects to the Quality Technician.
  • Package, label, and scan all molded products correctly.
  • Ensure labels are accurate and placed correctly on packaging.
  • Report daily scrap generation to appropriate departments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5-S principles.
  • Assist with physical inventory as needed.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

This is a permanent position with a 90-day contract-to-hire option, with direct-hire considered for the right candidate.
