Job Summary
Cape Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled ER Registration Clerk to join our team. As an ER Registration Clerk, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a smooth registration process for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Greets patients and directs them to the appropriate area, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience.
- Conducts thorough interviews with patients and family members to obtain accurate demographic and insurance information, which is then distributed to relevant hospital departments.
- Documents daily patient activity in a logbook, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Files patient charts in alphabetical order, maintaining a neat and organized workspace.
- Processes patient placements using bed availability, special requests, and criteria for specialty areas.
- Responds to phone calls, records messages, and performs related duties as directed.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Previous data entry or typing experience, with knowledge of basic office equipment, is required. Computer experience is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
- The ability to set and achieve high standards of performance is necessary.
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple assignments under time constraints.
- Good telephone and clerical skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, are required.
- Ability to learn specific job duties and complete detailed work assignments in a timely manner.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work 13-hour shifts.
- Must have dexterity of hands and fingers to utilize tools, utensils, equipment, etc.
- Ability to maneuver comfortably in hospital areas.
- Ability to visually perceive depth, distance, quality of work, read material, view documents, etc.
- Ability to hear inquiries from patients, physicians, clients, or staff.
