Position Overview:

This role may offer up to 40 hours of work per week.

Under the guidance of departmental leadership, the Registered Dietitian (RD) operates within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Scope of Practice in Nutrition Care and adheres to the MA Statutes and Regulations for Dietitians and Nutritionists, embodying the core values of Baystate Health. The RD possesses the expertise and skills essential to deliver high standards of care, taking into account the physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-related needs of patients. The RD is accountable for the nutrition care plan of each patient, making informed decisions regarding assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nutritional strategies. The RD provides direct patient care and collaborates with other healthcare professionals. Participation in committees and performance improvement initiatives is also expected. The RD is committed to continuous learning, adheres to all regulatory standards, and is currently registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, holding a license as a Dietitian Nutritionist in Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Conducts thorough nutritional assessments for specific patient populations.

2) Develops and monitors medical nutrition therapy plans to achieve desired outcomes.

3) Communicates nutrition care requirements to the patient care team throughout the care continuum.

4) Provides tailored nutrition education based on the patient's readiness and learning capacity.

5) Engages in facility and departmental planning and performance improvement activities.

Required Experience:

1) A minimum of 1 year of prior experience in clinical nutrition is required.

Skills and Qualifications:

1) Requires knowledge and skills obtained through an accredited college or university in nutrition, including successful completion of a clinical practicum through an accredited program.

2) Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration is mandatory.

3) Candidates eligible for registration will be considered, provided they obtain it within one year of employment.

4) Membership in the American Dietetic Association is preferred.

Qualifications:

Registered Dietitian- Commission on Dietetic Registration (mandatory) Licensed Dietitian- Commonwealth of MA (mandatory) Education: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or a related field (required); Master's degree preferred (mandatory for all registered after 2024)
