Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. You will work independently to complete imaging procedures, review patient images, and ensure that images meet diagnostic quality standards. Additionally, you will serve as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

* Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
* Use radiology information systems to facilitate care
* Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
* Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
* Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards
* Complete timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards

Requirements

* Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography
* Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (required within 1 year of hire)
* Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
