Dance Instructor II

At the Young Men's Christian Association of Wichita Kansas, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Dance Instructor II to join our team at the North YMCA location.
Job Summary:The Dance Instructor II will be responsible for teaching and evaluating dance classes, preparing lesson plans, and ensuring a safe and positive learning environment for participants. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
Responsibilities:- Prepare and deliver high-quality dance lessons, adhering to YMCA guidelines and standards.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, volunteers, and staff, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
- Convey information about dance programs and schedules, and refer students and parents to other relevant programs as needed.
- Organize and maintain class equipment, reporting any facility or equipment irregularities to the supervisor.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of participants, adhering to all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Attend all required training sessions and scheduled meetings, and maintain prompt hours and follow established procedures for absences.
- Support the Annual Campaign fundraising efforts and perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience teaching dance.
- Ability to perform physical activities such as running, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lead and coach teams and individuals, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to possess mental alertness, problem-solving, and task management skills, and make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to demonstrate maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment, and a desire to work with all ages.
- Ability to exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision, and work collaboratively as a team member and independently.
- Ability to present a neat and professional appearance at all times.
- Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision, and values.
- Attendance at New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire.
- Completion of First Aid in accordance with Conditions of Employment.
- Learn and demonstrate all applicable emergency procedures and action plans for the branch and/or program.
- Understanding and adherence to all policies and procedures as set forth by the association.
- Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch and team, including evenings and weekends.
