Position Summary
The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for performing specific duties under the guidance and supervision of a licensed nurse. This role operates within the framework established by the relevant health authorities, ensuring adherence to patient care standards and protocols.
- Quality Improvement Participation:
Engages in initiatives aimed at enhancing service quality. Identifies areas for improvement and participates in data collection efforts. Adheres to safety practices and regulations. - Educational Engagement:
Actively participates in staff development programs and fulfills mandatory training requirements. Assists in orienting new staff and students as directed by the supervising nurse. - Policy Adherence:
Ensures compliance with hospital and departmental policies. Provides high-quality patient care while maintaining awareness of job responsibilities and legal implications. - Team Collaboration:
Fosters effective communication and teamwork. Actively listens to colleagues and provides constructive feedback. Addresses interpersonal conflicts that may affect patient care. - Direct Patient Care:
Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, assists in delivering direct patient care and completes assigned tasks as per health department guidelines.
High School diploma or GED is preferred. Current certification as a Patient Care Assistant is required. Experience in a similar healthcare setting may substitute for formal training, subject to successful completion of an approved challenge exam.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in an acute care hospital
- 1+ years of experience in skilled nursing facilities
- 1+ years of experience in home health settings
