Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist in Charge to oversee all operations at a mail-order 503A pharmacy licensed in 49 states. The successful candidate will have expertise in sterile compounding and retailing 503B compounded medications in the GLP-1 space.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Oversee daily operations of the mail-order pharmacy, including sterile compounding and retailing of 503B compounded medications.
- Manage, mentor, and train pharmacy staff.
- Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage for all operations.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, particularly those related to mail-order pharmacy operations and sterile compounding.
- Maintain all necessary licenses and certifications for the pharmacy and staff across 49 states.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective pharmacy operations.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including those specific to compounding.
- Provide exceptional patient care, including counseling on medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
- Address and resolve patient concerns and complaints.
- Ensure accurate and timely dispensing of medications through mail-order services.
- Oversee medication therapy management (MTM) and immunization services.
- Oversee the ordering, receiving, and storage of pharmaceutical inventory, including raw materials for compounding.
- Manage inventory to minimize waste and ensure the availability of necessary medications.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and manage controlled substances in compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care, especially in the context of custom-compounded medications.
- Maintain effective communication with pharmacy staff, management, and external stakeholders.
- Participate in community outreach and health promotion activities.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance programs.
- Address and resolve medication errors, adverse drug events, and quality issues in compounded medications.
- Continuously improve pharmacy services and patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
- Active pharmacist license in good standing with the state board of pharmacy. 10+ state licenses required, 49 preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a pharmacy setting, with prior management experience in compounding pharmacies preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detailed knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management software and systems.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
