ST Engineering MRAS stands as a premier manufacturer of intricate aerostructures, including nacelle systems and specialized structural components for aircraft. We provide comprehensive support for these products to engine manufacturers, airplane builders, and aircraft operators. Our expansive facility, located in Maryland, spans 1.4 million square feet on 180 acres, where we have been designing, constructing, and equipping civil and military aircraft for over 95 years.

In addition to our manufacturing capabilities, we offer technical support, spare parts, and various services for our products.


Role Summary:

The Lead Facilities Engineer will oversee all facets of facility management, including master planning, infrastructure design, real estate services, and design reviews, ensuring compliance with local and state construction standards.

This position involves daily coordination, program administration, budget management, and leadership of facility-related projects and services.

Key functions may encompass specialized architectural and engineering tasks, site design, construction services, energy engineering, building code analysis, project scheduling, estimating, and operational support.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with key stakeholders to ascertain project requirements and develop comprehensive Statements of Work for external bidding.
  • Establish Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Identify viable solutions and collaborate with sourcing to onboard qualified OEMs, construction firms, and equipment suppliers.
  • Present potential solutions to EHS, operations, facilities teams, and engineering to ensure all safety and environmental considerations are addressed.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings with stakeholders to guide the selection process, ensuring alignment with financial and scheduling objectives.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools and SAP for requisition management, and maintain project tracking systems in Excel to communicate status updates.
  • Oversee open purchase orders and monitor supplier performance regarding cost, delivery, and quality.
  • Utilize CAD software for optimizing facility layouts and critical operational systems, with a preference for AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate with the Facility Manager on outstanding issues and maintain schedules for supplier and builder visits.
  • Assist in resolving complex floor layout challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and participate in annual maintenance budgeting.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior facilities engineers.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.

Alternatively, an Associate degree with 5+ years of experience in a Facilities Engineering role, or 10+ years of experience in Facilities Engineering may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

Proficiency in architectural design and building structures, along with a solid understanding of facilities mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems is essential.

Strong skills in reading and creating blueprint drawings for construction projects are necessary, as well as daily use of Microsoft Excel and purchasing software.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment are crucial.

Adherence to proper personal protective equipment (PPE), OSHA regulations, and safety protocols is expected.


Desired Attributes:

A background in Civil Engineering is preferred, with 5+ years of experience in a leadership role requiring extensive knowledge of architectural design and building structures.

A strong grasp of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, along with a thorough understanding of local and state building codes, is advantageous.

Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 5S, TPM, Quick Change, Poke-Yoke, D.I.V.E., VSM) are desirable.

Experience with SAP for requisition entry and purchase order monitoring, as well as budgeting and scheduling, is beneficial.

Experience in energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives is a plus, particularly in an aerospace production facility.
