Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher with various responsibilities and tasks.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum suitable for the age group that encourages social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
  • Monitor and evaluate children's development and progress, providing guidance and support to families.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment, complying with all licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create and execute daily activities tailored to the individual needs of each child.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with families, sharing updates on their child's progress and developmental milestones.
  • Keep accurate and timely records of children's progress, attendance, and developmental achievements.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in staff meetings to stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Possession of a CDA, AA, or higher degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a licensed ODJFS childcare program.
  • Experience working with children in the specified age range.
  • Current physical and ability to pass background checks.
  • Basic communication and documentation skills.
  • Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for school-aged children.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team of educators and support staff.
  • Dependable, compassionate, and capable of creating a warm, nurturing environment for children and families.
  • Must demonstrate reliability and maintain a good attendance record.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to kneel, bend, squat, stand, and sit on child-sized furniture or the floor for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move children, with a weight capacity of up to 50lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a moderately noisy environment.
  • Preparedness to assist children in emergency situations.
  • Physical ability to stay within close proximity to children, ensuring their safety.
  • Participation in safety drills and adherence to guidelines for relocating children.
  • Endurance to work outdoors in varying conditions and temperatures throughout the year.
