As an Early Childhood Support Teacher, your role will be to cultivate a nurturing and educational environment for children aged 3 to 4 years. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher with various responsibilities and tasks.
- Develop and implement a curriculum suitable for the age group that encourages social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
- Monitor and evaluate children's development and progress, providing guidance and support to families.
- Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment, complying with all licensing and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create and execute daily activities tailored to the individual needs of each child.
- Maintain open and effective communication with families, sharing updates on their child's progress and developmental milestones.
- Keep accurate and timely records of children's progress, attendance, and developmental achievements.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in staff meetings to stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Possession of a CDA, AA, or higher degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a licensed ODJFS childcare program.
- Experience working with children in the specified age range.
- Current physical and ability to pass background checks.
- Basic communication and documentation skills.
- Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for school-aged children.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a team of educators and support staff.
- Dependable, compassionate, and capable of creating a warm, nurturing environment for children and families.
- Must demonstrate reliability and maintain a good attendance record.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to kneel, bend, squat, stand, and sit on child-sized furniture or the floor for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and move children, with a weight capacity of up to 50lbs.
- Comfortable working in a moderately noisy environment.
- Preparedness to assist children in emergency situations.
- Physical ability to stay within close proximity to children, ensuring their safety.
- Participation in safety drills and adherence to guidelines for relocating children.
- Endurance to work outdoors in varying conditions and temperatures throughout the year.
