Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Donor Management Coordinator 2 to join our team at the University of Miami/UHealth. This is a full-time position responsible for coordinating and managing cadaver donors for organ procurement, with on-call responsibilities under the Organ Procurement Manager of LAORA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to potential donor referrals in all Donor Service Area Hospitals, evaluating donation suitability based on patient information and physical examination.
  • Communicate with the AOC on all donor and referral activity, ensuring that referrals meet medical criteria for organ donation.
  • Perform independent assessments of potential donor referrals, requesting and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic procedures as needed.
  • Formulate donor maintenance plans in collaboration with the AOC and LAORA Medical Director, ensuring the preservation of transplantable organs.
  • Report pertinent clinical information to the AOC and/or LAORA Medical Director, ensuring timely communication and coordination.
  • Ensure organs for transplantation are appropriately preserved, in accordance with donor management protocols and Florida Statutes.
  • Participate in Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD) cases, collaborating with hospital faculty and staff to evaluate potential donors.
  • Perform advanced clinical procedures, including arterial line placement, central venous line placement, and bedside lymph node recovery.
  • Provide education and in-services to healthcare professionals in donor hospitals, promoting organ donation and procurement.
  • Assist with data collection and operational initiatives, supporting publication and clinical research efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2 years of Critical Care/Intensive Care work experience or 2 years of OPO experience.
  • Credentials/Licensure: CPTC preferred, with ACLS and BLS certifications, and PALS (optional).
  • Ability to obtain CPTC within two years of hiring.
