About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated pediatric ophthalmologist to join our dynamic team at Norton Children's Advanced Eye Care. As a board-certified/board-eligible pediatric ophthalmologist, you will be part of a growing and vibrant pediatric ophthalmology program, promoting innovation and passion for the care of children with eye issues.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to mentor and teach residents and technicians, and to participate in multiple research opportunities, or to expand research, if desired. Our team welcomes collaboration, and we have a strong support network of advanced practice providers, nurse navigators, educators, and social workers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of pediatric eye conditions
  • Collaborate with other specialists and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects
  • Teach and mentor residents, technicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences within the UofL School of Medicine is a leading academic and research institution, with a strong commitment to clinical care, education, and research. Our department has a diverse range of clinical services, including pediatric ophthalmology, adult strabismus, retina, uveitis, glaucoma, corneal and external disease, refractive surgery, oculoplastic and orbital surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, comprehensive ophthalmology, and well eye care. We have a strong research program, with grants from the National Institutes of Health, Research to Prevent Blindness, and the Department of Defense, as well as collaborative projects with other major research and academic institutions.

About the Novak Center for Children's Health

The Novak Center for Children's Health is an eight-story, 176,000-square-foot facility located in downtown Louisville, a few blocks from Norton Children's Hospital. The outpatient center provides families in the region with access to primary care and more than 20 pediatric specialties, including Norton Children's Cancer Institute, Norton Children's Heart Institute, and Norton Children's Neuroscience Institute, all affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine. It's also home to the Wendy Novak Diabetes Institute, part of Norton Children's Endocrinology, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine.
