We are seeking a highly skilled Hearing Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente's Falls Church Medical Center in Virginia.
About the JobThis full-time position offers a rewarding opportunity to work with patients and provide top-notch care in audiology. As a Hearing Specialist, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with hearing, balance, and related disorders.
Responsibilities:- Evaluate patients' audiologic function, interpret findings, and review test results with patients or responsible adults.
- Document patients' case history, test results, and recommendations for follow-up in the medical record and report results and recommendations to referring physicians and/or primary care physicians.
- Counsel patients about treatment options for hearing loss and refer patients to ear, nose, and throat departments for consultation when appropriate.
- Educate patients about hearing conservation.
- Evaluate patients' vestibular function when referred for dizziness, vertigo, or imbalance.
- Perform canalith repositioning maneuvers for patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and counsel patients about vestibular rehabilitation exercises when appropriate.
- Perform and interpret electro physiologic and special tests of the peripheral and central auditory system.
- Evaluate the hearing status of infants and young children with an appropriate comprehensive battery of tests.
- Counsel patients regarding hearing aid device options.
- Evaluate patients' hearing aids when appropriate and enter referrals for hearing aids for members with a hearing aid benefit.
- Additional specialized duties include programming and fitting implantable devices such as cochlear implants, bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHAS), and similar devices; fitting, programming, and troubleshooting hearing aids and assistive listening devices, including electroacoustic analysis and real-ear measures; and advanced vestibular assessment, such as rotary chair, vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP), posturography, or video head impulse testing (vHIT).
To be considered for this position, you must have a Master's degree and a minimum four years of experience in audiology or an Au.D. National Provider Identifier, Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association, and PECOS Enrollment within three months of hire are also required.
Preferred QualificationsA minimum one year of experience in vestibular testing, behavioral pediatric assessment, or Auditory Evoked Potential testing is preferred.
Estimated Salary: $83,400 - $115,000 per yearThe salary range is based on factors such as location, experience, and education level. We offer competitive compensation and benefits packages to ensure that our employees receive fair compensation for their skills and expertise.
