Job Summary

This position entails promoting program services to the community, overseeing the program budget, ensuring the delivery of program services, maintaining program records, analyzing program revenue and success, and supervising or providing guidance to designated staff members.


Responsibilities
  • Develops a maintenance schedule for the aquatic facility and conducts daily safety inspections, upkeep, and minor fixes in accordance with Health Department regulations.
  • Monitors all pool activities closely, identifies any potential hazards, enforces pool rules and safety regulations, maintains communication with management and all pool areas via radio, and ensures proper rotation is being adhered to.
  • Procures necessary pool-related supplies and equipment as per Department guidelines and upon request.
  • Plans aquatic programs and activities, including open swim, aquatics instruction, aquatic fitness, and special events, adhering to set guidelines for membership, capacity, and program requirements.
  • Establishes the pool for the effective operation of leisure swimming in accordance with program schedules, calendars, and designated hours.
  • Directs lifeguards and water attendant employees, ensures accurate attendance record-keeping, and supervises directly the full-time Aquatics Programmer and Aquatics Supervisor.
  • Performs daily and weekly chemical readings, keeps detailed chemical logs, and ensures that pool chemical levels adhere to health code standards, and oversees the inventory of pool chemicals.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Leisure and Recreation Service or a closely related field is required. Two years of relevant work experience, with at least one year in a supervisory role, or a comparable combination of education and experience is required. Must be physically able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.


Preferred Qualifications

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer and/or Water Safety Instructor Trainer or equivalent, CPRP certification or equivalent, membership and involvement in related professional organization(s), and completion of NRPA National Aquatics Management School (NAMS) are preferred qualifications.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Satisfactorily pass pre-employment screenings for criminal, credit, and DMV backgrounds, and a valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
