Job Summary

The Utility Worker is a vital member of our team at Crown Health Care Laundry Services, responsible for providing support with light maintenance tasks and basic janitorial work as directed by the manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform janitorial tasks as assigned, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
  • Conduct basic maintenance cleaning tasks, including wiping down, blowing out, and lubricating equipment, as directed.
  • Maintain casters on all carts and gondolas to ensure smooth operation.
  • Monitor and communicate stock levels in the new goods warehouse.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks once trained and as directed.
  • Report any work not completed as scheduled or any serious issues to the supervisor.
  • Inspect eye wash stations and other safety items to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with all employees to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Safe Machine Operation
  • Follow proper safety procedures when working on or around machinery.
  • Adhere to lock out/tag out procedures when directed.
  • Perform repair work in a careful and efficient manner.
  • Seek guidance from the supervisor when priorities conflict.
  • May be required to assist with production jobs as needed.
  • Notify the supervisor when maintenance or cleaning supplies are low.
  • Seek out additional work when janitorial tasks are not available.
  • Contribute to improving processes and suggest ideas for enhancements.
  • Attend safety meetings as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.
  • Be flexible with starting and completion times.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing during working hours.
  • Constant lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant reaching for individual items and stacks of items.
  • Constant bending, stooping, and twisting.
  • Constant grasping of items.
  • Constant feet movement or shifting weight, depending on the job.
  • Constant wrist motion.
  • Constant elbow motion.
  • Constant shoulder motion.
  • Frequent pushing of a cart that may weigh 200 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to dust and lint (mask available for use).
