Overview

OSF HealthCare is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team-oriented group of APPs and Neurosurgeons caring for neurosurgical patients at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Peoria, IL. Our neurosurgical program is committed to educating, training, and mentoring APPs in learning this exciting neurosurgical specialty.

Position Details
  • Monday through Friday, 0800-1630, no weekends
  • Collaborate with Neurosurgeons and APPs in the hospital outpatient department setting
  • See hospital neurosurgical follow-ups, postoperative follow-ups, spine and skull fractures, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury follow-ups, and other neurosurgical patients
  • Assist with new priority consultation patients in collaboration with Neurosurgeons
Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient history
  • Perform physical examination
  • Conduct comprehensive assessment
  • Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Formulate diagnostic impression
  • Develop and implement treatment plan
  • Monitor effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
  • Prescribe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
  • Facilitate appropriate consultations and referrals
  • Provide counseling and education to meet patient needs
  • Coordinate hospital discharges and follow-up testing/appointments
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in nursing or physician assistant studies
  • Current APRN or PA national certification, and Illinois licensure as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Physician Assistant
  • BLS, ACLS, ENLS certification (can help acquire)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of acute care experience in neurosurgery or related field
