Catholic Charities of Baltimore is looking for a Behavioral Support Supervisor to oversee crisis prevention and intervention services within our organization. This role involves collaborating with and supervising the Behavioral Specialist team to ensure effective support is available for crisis situations, utilizing the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model. The work schedule consists of hours per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Upholds the rights of children and families by honoring the dignity of each individual, fostering their involvement in problem-solving and decision-making, and safeguarding the confidentiality of all client information. Ensures a safe care environment by adhering to therapeutic standards, risk management policies, and procedures for client safety. Contributes to performance enhancement at the individual, departmental, and organizational levels. Applies and understands policies and procedures related to infection control. Demonstrates knowledge of treatment methodologies suitable for the physical and developmental stages of clients served. Participates in all mandatory training and in-service sessions. [CPR, TCI, Emergency Procedures, Infection Control, etc.] Will achieve certification as a TCI Instructor and participate in the training rotation for the Division. Effectively supervises, assesses, and inspires staff. Engages tactfully and effectively with individuals both within and outside the department. Utilizes strong verbal and written communication skills. Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Mental Health or a related field with five years of experience working with emotionally disturbed children. Previous experience as a Behavioral Specialist is preferred. TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) Certification is also preferred. Requires the physical capability to intervene and restrain children in crisis situations, including the ability to run, lift, and transport children as necessary. Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is a requirement for this position. The driver must be at least 21 years old, possess a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and hold a valid driver's license issued by the state of residence. There should be no state-issued restrictions on the license that would hinder the ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and the driving record must not exceed three (3) points.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Strong supervisory abilities including staff management, motivation, scheduling, staff development, and evaluation of staff competencies. Ability to function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge of therapeutic crisis intervention techniques is essential. The ability to implement effective discipline and behavior management strategies is required. Must demonstrate the ability to relate effectively to severely emotionally disabled children in a compassionate and insightful manner. Proficient oral and written communication skills are necessary. Must be capable of accurately assessing and documenting information in various formats. Good listening skills are essential for interactions with staff and clients, often in high-pressure situations. Familiarity with policies and procedures related to the Behavioral Specialist role and crisis interventions is required. Proficient in utilizing computer systems and software necessary for fulfilling position responsibilities.
