Senior Social Services Specialist

Position Summary: Under minimal oversight, delivers a comprehensive array of social services to clients and their families. Conducts initial assessments, engages in treatment team discussions, and executes crisis intervention strategies. May offer supportive counseling to clients and families and/or act as a liaison for social services. May oversee the operations of a community-based treatment, training, or personal support facility. Functions as a supervisor or lead worker for other paraprofessionals.

Client Support
- All staff are responsible for ensuring that the individuals served through our programs receive services tailored to their unique needs.
- Meets established productivity standards regarding direct service time.
- Provides instruction and guidance to clients on daily living and vocational skills through individual or group sessions.
- Observes and assesses client behavior.
- Offers counseling and guidance to clients on behavioral issues, daily decision-making, and resolving minor challenges.
- Assists in the formulation of individualized service/treatment plans for each assigned client.
- Participates in case evaluations, collaborating with the team to assess the client's needs and plan for ongoing services.
Vocational Training
- Responsible for providing prevocational training to clients in a production environment.
- Oversees training and supervision of clients in community activity group (CAG) initiatives.
- Ensures clients are trained in accordance with Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectives.
- Accurately calculates recycling totals.
- Ensures accurate recording of client time and compensation.
Transportation Duties
- Operates a vehicle to transport clients to and from programs and home daily.
- Facilitates client transportation to community engagement activities.
- Ensures compliance with all transportation regulations and guidelines.
- Conducts weekly inspections of the assigned vehicle and maintains cleanliness.
Documentation Management
- Prepares and maintains records of client progress and services rendered, reporting any changes in client condition to the supervisor.
- Ensures all documentation aligns with client goals and objectives.
- Completes all reviews and annual paperwork prior to due dates.
- Documents services within 24 hours of service delivery and provides necessary documentation to the supervisor for billing purposes.

Education & Experience Requirements: A minimum of five years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in social services delivery (case management, outreach, prevention/education, etc.) or completion of 90 quarter hours (or its semester equivalent) of college coursework, including 15 quarter hours (or its semester equivalent) in social work, psychology, mental health, nursing, education, sociology, criminal justice, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, guidance counseling, or a related field, along with four years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in social services delivery. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree in one of the specified coursework areas with one year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in social services delivery, or a master's degree in one of the specified coursework areas, or two years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience as a Senior Social Services Technician.

Work Environment: This position operates in various business settings, including community outings. The role typically utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The position provides essential employment support and may require performance in diverse environments, both indoors and outdoors. Some travel between Gateway sites and within the community is necessary.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel, and occasionally required to climb, balance, or stoop. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and must have the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer. The employee regularly uses fine hand/eye coordination, hearing, and visual acuity. The work environment is adequately lit and temperature-controlled, with no hazardous conditions caused by noise or dust. The employee must be able to travel between Gateway sites.
