A Day in the Life of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)As an SLP, you will evaluate, plan, and administer medically prescribed or educationally relevant speech therapy treatment to clients in their homes or students in their respective educational environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Actively monitoring and amending patient visit schedules to maximize productivity and patient need.
- Performing comprehensive assessments of assigned patients, including psychosocial, educational, safety, and risk factor parameters.
- Developing plans of care to promote optimal functional independence and safety.
- Providing skilled speech-language therapy treatment, including therapeutic techniques, patient/caregiver education, and assessing patient status and progress.
- Coordinating patient care with other clinical team members, including physicians, nurses, caregivers, and other rehab services.
- Accurately and completely performing functions related to school-based services, including evaluations, documentation, and provision of direct and consultative services.
