Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team at Norwalk Public Schools. The successful candidate will provide speech services to eligible students, evaluate referred students, and consult with school staff as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings to identify communication disorders in students.
  • Evaluate and diagnose communication disorders, providing recommendations for educational modifications and speech-language interventions.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with communication disorders.
  • Provide direct services to students, including receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, articulation, aural rehabilitation, oral motor intervention, and auditory processing.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to provide speech and language services through a transdisciplinary model of intervention.
  • Participate in in-service training for teachers and provide consultation services to instructional and support staff.
  • Remain current in the field of speech and language pathology and special education, attending professional development opportunities as needed.
Requirements
  • CT certification as a Speech and Language Pathologist.
  • Licensure by the State of CT Board of Health.
  • Experience in writing IEP goals and objectives.
  • Experience with the PPT process.
  • Experience working with families from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Public school experience at all levels, including preschool.
  • Experience with IEP Direct software.
