POSITION OVERVIEW
As an Artisan Pastry Specialist, you will be responsible for crafting a variety of breads and pastries. This includes the preparation of doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating as necessary. You will review the Production sheet to comprehend the assortment of baked goods to be created each day. Your role will involve preparing and cooking food in accordance with established recipes, quality, and presentation standards, as well as adhering to food preparation checklists. You will maintain kitchen logs to ensure compliance with food safety protocols and keep the Chef informed of surplus food items for the planning of daily specials.
Utilize baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances safely and appropriately to create baked products. Ensure adherence to food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene standards. Monitor and verify the correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any discrepancies to management. Oversee the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout your shift.
Assist management in the processes of hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating employees; serve as a role model within the team.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security measures; report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to your manager; complete all required safety training and certifications.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance in your uniform; protect the confidentiality of proprietary information and safeguard company assets. Communicate with colleagues using clear and professional language and answer telephones with appropriate etiquette.Foster and maintain positive working relationships with team members and support collective goals; handle sensitive matters with discretion, respect, and confidentiality.
Serve as a mentor or role model within the department. Comply with quality expectations and standards.Physical requirements include the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 25 pounds or less without assistance. Navigate sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, and perform tasks that involve reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. You should be prepared to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
2+ years of experience in a professional pastry kitchen or restaurant setting is preferred for this role.
