Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and build a team of power market analysts to develop and maintain advanced analytics models and trading strategies
  • Develop and implement a holistic analysis strategy for the US power trading business, identifying gaps in fundamental analysis and driving the team to think outside the box
  • Collaborate with commercial functions to collect and provide the best available knowledge on fundamental drivers, including supply and demand curves, grid capacity, and regulatory changes
  • Develop trading recommendations and strategies from a fundamental/market analytics perspective to support trading direction
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of our DAYZER model, performing model runs, checking model plausibility, and back-testing model results
  • Deliver long-term market views for strategic projects and general valuations, understanding and evaluating external studies and forecasts
Requirements:
  • University degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of professional work experience in the electricity market in a commercial environment, ideally with leadership experience
  • Strong conceptual understanding of electricity markets, including security-constrained economic dispatch and unit-commitment, nodal/zonal price formation, capacity auctions, and co-optimization of energy and reserves
  • Experience in fundamental modelling, particularly production cost modelling for electricity markets, and experience with production modelling tools such as DAYZER or similar
  • Very strong quantitative and analytical skills, with excellent communication and IT skills, including ability to model in main languages such as Python and in the MS Windows environment
