Job Summary

The School Registered Nurse Ambulatory provides health services to facilitate optimal physical, mental, emotional, and social growth and development for students within the schools. This role is responsible for caring for students with chronic health issues, identifying health needs during the school day, and providing health education, medication management, emotional support, and referrals to higher levels of care as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide health services to students, including health education, medication management, and emotional support
  • Care for students with chronic health issues and identify health needs during the school day
  • Develop and implement health plans to promote optimal health and well-being for students
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to support student health and education
  • Provide referrals to higher levels of care as needed

Requirements

  • Graduate of a National League for Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
  • One year or more of nursing experience required
  • Two years of experience working with pediatric patients required
  • Excellent communication and team skills
  • Compassionate and caring
  • Accountable and self-directed
