About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Investment Accounting Manager to join our team at Koch Industries. As a key member of our finance organization, you will play a critical role in supporting the investment teams in all finance, accounting, and financial reporting matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of monthly accounting processes for a large portfolio of complex investment strategies, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Analytical review and comprehension of monthly results, with proactive communication of known or expected risks, significant transactions, or anomalies to management.
  • Collaboration with investment groups and third-party administrators to understand investment strategies and validate accurate accounting treatment.
  • Early involvement in new investment onboarding, understanding terms, legal entity structure, tax, and reporting implications, and evaluating proper accounting treatment.
  • Thorough research and documentation of technical accounting position papers for new and existing investment positions.
  • Collaboration with various groups across the organization, including investment teams, FP&A, treasury, tax, risk, and business leaders, to provide ad-hoc information and analysis.
  • Performance of balance sheet reconciliations to support transactions and account balances, and investigation of corrective action required.
  • Review of financial statements and other deliverables on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and provide proper oversight.
  • Support of annual audit process as needed, working with external auditors.
  • Identification of opportunities for process improvements and automation, and proposal of solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business-related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in a professional Accounting, Audit, Financial Analysis, Investments, Trading, or similar role.
  • Existing working knowledge or ability to independently research and understand complex accounting transactions, including investments, derivatives, and VIE/consolidation analysis.
  • Ability to conduct technical accounting research and document positions in an organized and well-thought-out manner.
  • Analytical thinking, capable of evaluating information and challenging appropriately, and identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to effectively comprehend, communicate, and present financial concepts and investment transactions to various internal and external audiences.
  • Collaboration mindset, seeking to build working relationships and bridge gaps between partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CGMA, CMA, CPA, or Master's degree in Accounting.
  • SAP, Infor, or other large ERP, integrated accounting system experience.
  • OneStream, HFM, or other accounting consolidation reporting system experience.
  • Experience with Excel macros, SQL/VBA, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, and/or other data manipulation and visualization tools.
  • Previous Public Accounting or Large Company Corporate Accounting experience.
