Job Title: Merchandiser

At ADM, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Merchandiser to join our team. As a Merchandiser, you will be responsible for procuring oilseeds and marketing finished goods to achieve optimal financial results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external suppliers and customers
  • Work in a dynamic environment, learning and contributing to the team's success
  • Maintain clear customer account lists and provide detailed background information
  • Provide excellent customer service, prioritizing customer needs and finding opportunities to differentiate ourselves from the competition
  • Handle accounting, logistics, and other issues in a timely manner, prioritizing customer service
  • Make quick decisions in a fast market, accepting responsibility to defend them logically
  • Develop a clear understanding of local, national, and global markets
  • Seek out new business opportunities to enhance ADM's company assets
  • Attend internal training sessions to learn basic merchandising skills and systems
  • Understand margin calculations and their effect on commodity pricing
  • Develop a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities
  • Understand and adhere to corporate compliance policies and safety programs
  • Ensure individual goals are aligned with corporate goals
  • Prioritize cooperative and transparent relationships with internal partners
  • Portray a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers and colleagues
  • Help in the development and training of new employees
  • Prepare month-end accounting documents and perform other month-end reporting requirements with a high level of detail
Qualifications:
  • BS/BA in Agriculture, Business, or related field of study
  • 2+ years' experience in cash commodity trading or related field
  • Strong computer competency in MS Office, IBM, Agris, Market Q, and other web-based internal applications
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor
  • Desire to develop and initiative to learn other responsibilities
  • Detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
