We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician to join our team at the Veterans Health Administration. Key Responsibilities- Provide quality patient-centered care to presenting adults and older adults, stabilizing patients under the age of 18 as required.
- Demonstrate sound decision-making skills, both clinical and administrative, which bring credit to the profession and serve to enhance the distinctive and contributory role of Physicians.
- Facilitate the delivery of appropriate patient care in collaboration with other health professionals, medical center staff, and management.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests necessary to complete the ED evaluation.
- Stabilize critically ill or injured patients.
- Participate as a peer reviewer process when requested.
- Admit patients to the hospital or discharge them from the ED with appropriate follow-up.
- Discuss treatment plans with patients and/or family/caregivers.
- Exhibit leadership in suggesting and implementing changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from research and studies.
- Keep informed of developments in the management and treatment of diseases and illness through continuing medical education.
- Coordinate patient care with consultants as deemed appropriate.
- Support the safety, occupational health, and fire protection program by applying approved standards, regulations, practices, and work methods.
- Complete medical record documentation in CPRS within prescribed timeframes.
- Utilize problem-solving methodologies to resolve problems that impact patient care or staff performance.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate care based on age-specific requirements of the patient.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred Experience: Physicians will be board eligible/board certified in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice with significant Emergency Medicine experience.
