We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physical Therapy Technician to join our team at Spire Orthopedic Partners. As a Physical Therapy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical therapy care delivery team by preparing treatment areas, patients, equipment, and materials, and performing procedures under the supervision of a physical therapist.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Support: Clean and organize work areas and disinfect equipment after treatment, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
- Patient Care: Observe patients during treatment, compile and evaluate data on patients' responses and progress, and report to physical therapists.
- Assistance and Support: Instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients practicing exercises and functional activities under the direction of medical staff.
- Communication: Confer with physical therapy staff and others to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.
- Logistics: Transport patients to and from treatment areas, using wheelchairs or providing standing support.
- Treatment Preparation: Prepare treatment areas for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for physical therapy treatment by welcoming, comforting, providing, and/or assisting patients into physical therapy apparel or apertures.
- Information Provision: Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests.
- Treatment Assistance: Help treat patients by applying heat packs, paraffin dips, assisting patients into whirlpools, helping patients onto therapy equipment, monitoring motion, tracking walking time and distance, measuring mobility, performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.
- System Understanding: Understand the Track Via and FOTO systems and have the ability to enter stats into Track Via and discharge patients from FOTO.
- Patient Education: Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
- Confidentiality: Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure operation of physical therapy equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
- Supply Management: Maintain physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience: One year of physical therapy experience, medical office experience preferred.
- Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with HIPAA, insurance regulations, policies, procedures, and other regulatory policies; knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment.
- Personal Qualities: Ability to react calmly and effectively under stress; ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures; develop and maintain effective and professional working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the public by displaying sympathy, tact, and understanding.
- Teamwork: Must be a team player with a positive attitude, adjust to various personalities, work with a diverse population, demonstrating patience and professionalism.
- Representation: Represents the clinic in a professional manner.
- Confidentiality: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on all patient issues.
