Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000

Role Summary: The Logistics Manager is responsible for providing operational guidance to staff regarding the planning and execution of logistics activities. This role ensures that all operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee transportation operations at the facility, managing workflow and task execution.
  • Implement and enforce compliance with Logistics Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Ensure staff are trained and adhere to policies, addressing any non-compliance issues.
  • Manage customer requests for load quotes, ensuring accuracy and timely responses.
  • Train Dispatch Agents in optimal carrier selection and communication for enhanced efficiency.
  • Maintain effective communication with customers regarding shipment statuses.
  • Act as the primary contact for carriers, fostering relationships to expand the network of service providers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of documentation and reports.
  • Negotiate terms and rates with shippers and carriers in the absence of contracts.
  • Monitor carrier performance and collaborate with the Logistics Manager to enhance processes.
  • Exercise discretion and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the shipping process.
  • Evaluate employee performance and support their professional development.
  • Foster a positive work environment and maintain team morale.
  • Participate in meetings and be available for extended hours as needed.
  • Be on-call for emergencies and staffing concerns.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in coaching and conflict resolution.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage stress and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related applications.
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for load processing and shipment tracking.
  • Experience with industry software such as TruckMate and Fleetmatics is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills for data extraction and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Experience managing a diverse workforce.

Education and Experience:

  • A degree in a related field or 5+ years of equivalent experience in logistics or transportation.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role within the logistics sector.
  • Understanding of DOT regulations and vehicle specifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Capacity to work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate a warehouse environment.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperature conditions.
  • Ability to climb stairs as needed.
