Position Summary
This recruitment aims to establish a pool of part-time Event Coordination Student Assistants within the Events Unit at Oregon State University. This role provides students with the opportunity to select events they are interested in and available to work, allowing for a flexible work schedule. Responsibilities primarily include assisting with event setup and teardown. Students can anticipate working between 0-5 hours weekly, contingent on the event calendar.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Setup and Teardown: Aid in the arrangement and disassembly of furniture and equipment for various events.
- Event Assistance: Offer support during events, which may include guest check-in, tours, catering assistance, audio/visual support, and general customer service.
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in a high school, community college, or university.
- Must adhere to academic standing requirements; students on academic suspension are ineligible.
- Must meet the minimum enrollment criteria based on educational level.
Additional Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exhibit strong organizational and communication skills.
- Dependability and punctuality are essential.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Current full-time student at OSU or a partner institution with a minimum GPA of 2.50.
- Prior experience in event setup or related activities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
- Possession of an OLCC Alcohol Server License and Oregon Food Handler's Card (can be obtained post-hire).
- This is a part-time role, averaging 0-5 hours per week, with a schedule adaptable to class commitments.
- Job duties involve physical activities, including lifting and moving items, as well as prolonged periods of standing or walking.
- Work may occur in various weather conditions.
- Evening or weekend shifts may be required based on event needs.
- Training sessions will be mandatory.
The position offers a competitive hourly wage, with opportunities for increased hours during academic breaks.
