We're seeking a skilled Medical Surgical Registered Nurse for an immediate travel nurse opportunity in Lynchburg, VA. Ideal candidates will have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience.

Job Summary

This Medical Surgical RN travel position involves conducting patient assessments and prioritizing data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will perform ongoing assessments and implement appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.

Responsibilities
  • Provide bedside care to various patients, including pre- and post-op patients
  • Administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment
  • Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments
  • Educate patients on surgical procedures
  • Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed by physicians

As a Medical Surgical Travel Nurse, you must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty. Additionally, you should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of heavier patients.

Requirements
  • BLS certification
  • 2 years of acute care experience
