Community Outreach Specialist, Central Midwest

Join National Grid Renewables, a leading renewable energy company, as a Community Advocate in the Central Midwest region. As a key member of our Community Engagement team, you will play a vital role in building strong relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and influencers to drive project success and growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement community outreach strategies to engage with local communities, stakeholders, and influencers.
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and influencers to promote National Grid Renewables' projects and values.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including development, permitting, and operations, to ensure seamless project execution and community engagement.
- Monitor and analyze local news, trends, and opposition activity to inform community engagement strategies.
- Travel up to 50% within the Central Midwest region, with occasional travel to other locations as needed.
- Residency in Indiana or Illinois, with a preference for residence in specific project counties.
- Proven experience in community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and strategies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and maintain high standards of quality and alignment with National Grid Renewables' strategy.
- Experience with political campaigning, grassroots organizing, or community development.
- Established relationships with Indiana and Illinois renewable energy groups, nonprofits, legislators, and other influential stakeholders.
- Understanding of the energy/utility sector, including renewable energy and relevant internal/external influences.
- A competitive hourly rate of $50/hour.
